This year Annabel picked the theme of Fancy Nancy for her birthday party and boy did I have fun with that! The decorations! The invitation! The games! The books! The food! The outfit! The accessories! The favors! Such a fun girly theme- perfect for a 5th birthday! The party was a big success, I thought!
We hosted the friends party the Saturday before Annabel turned 5 (the family party was the Sunday after she turned 5; I learned to spread them out this time, after doing both in the same weekend for Daniel two years ago and
The girls arrived, they bopped balloons and then we began the business of doing fancy things and being fancy. We made fancy glasses, we colored a little Fancy Nancy which we used for a game, we made paper fans. I read them the newest Fancy Nancy story, which even Annabel hadn't yet read- that was fun. The girls made a plain wooden picture frame fancy with shiny markers, glitter glue, sparkly stickers, and jewels. We pinned Fancy Nancy on the Eiffel Tower (so she could visit it, of course!) and we played Fancy Nancy Says (like Simon Says, but doing fancy things!)- so fun! We had parfaits (that's fancy for sundaes!) for the treat: vanilla ice cream (pre-scooped and stored in my freezer- genius!) complete with pink sprinkles, pink candy gems, mini chocolate chips, and chocolate syrup served with jeweled spoons! We made our own beaded necklaces, bopped balloons some more and just had a ball! Two hours flew by! We didn't even get to all the other little things I had planned, but that's okay (the teacher in me always over-plans anyway). The girls were all so fun to have here in our home to celebrate Annabel's birthday. The party couldn't have been more perfect, really. Annabel was beaming the whole time!
When the guests all left, Annabel opened her presents from them and one early present from us. She sure got some fun things- the girls all know her well. Annabel LOVES art projects and that's basically what she got- a flower pot to paint, a bird house to build & paint along with a perfectly pink headband, a sticker book and a bead set to make her own jewelry, and she also got this adorable Fancy Nancy shirt made by her friend Pearl's mom (Pearl has one, too- so they can be twins!!). Annabel was delighted! The early present from us was a pair of pop-up soccer goals- also a hit!
Whew- what a party! We're so glad everyone came and had a great time!
The invitation!
The decorations!
I LOVED the way Annabel's special birthday chair turned out...
all glitzy, pink, and adorable!
I had the girls all sign this book for Annabel so she could always remember who came to her party! And I totally had a blast making that feather pen...when I should have been cleaning my house! (Don't worry- the house got cleaned, too! I was well prepared and had a lot of prep time...plenty of time to spend making a feather pen!)

Phoebe and Sophie watched eagerly as Annabel opened their present before they left.
Annabel loved the pink headband and the bird house to paint!
Daddy and Daniel had been hiding in Daddy's office the whole time, playing computer games. The first thing Daniel did when the party was over- bop all the balloons onto the top of the entertain center. Of course. Typical brother!
