Annabel had the CRAZIEST bedhead one morning- or should I call it "shoulder-head" since she'd slept on Ben's shoulder that morning?
Look at Annabel go! She will push just about anything around- boxes, chairs, etc.- and she can keep up with even the shopping cart (which can really go pretty fast) just fine!
Yes, Annabel still likes to crawl under the table and chairs!
Daniel was very excited to make this owl puppet that we got the materials for at our nature class. He was singing the song we learned in class all day, too- "whoooo whooo are you? whoooo whooo are you?" So cute! Actually, he's been singing all week- lines from our music class songs, nature class songs, Jingle Bells (which he's actually got down pretty well finally!), ABC song, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...to name just a few. I got the ABCs on video...will share soon! Anyway, he loved making the owl fly and eat, or rather- spit up, "bones" (yes, we learned about owl pellets!).
Cute, albeit a little blurry, mirror picture! (This happy pic was before my poor baby came down with her hacking cough, fever, and horribly runny nose!)
Playing with toothpaste tubes after her bath!
Another happy picture! I love Annabel's expression!
A glimpse of Annabel's top two teeth!
This is the only way we've gotten Annabel to sleep the past couple days because of her fever/cold- right on Daddy's shoulder. (I can hold her and carry her now, but not when she gets fussy- she kicks too much for me then, so Ben's got fussy/sleeping duty for now, poor guy!) She gets in what we call "the position"- all snuggled up, arms dropped down, palms facing outward, and off to sleep she drifts. Anyway, for this picture, I had just finished reading to Daniel and putting him to bed last night, and I came down to the family room and found everybody, cats included, asleep on the couch!
Poor Annabel had to miss our friend Asher's first birthday party today. Daniel had fun and was most excited about the ball pit & trampoline at the party (which was held at a mini-gym of sorts), the bubbles we got to bring home, and of course the cupcake he ate at the party (sweet Patricia got a dairy free one just for Daniel!). Patricia made cute bibs (with Asher's picture on it) for all the little ones- so clever! Annabel's bib had a picture of the two of them together from a recent play date- so cute and even more special! Made me more sad Annabel couldn't be there today, but she still sported the bib at dinner time!
In other news, I am doing better day by day. I still get tired very easily and I'm pretty sore by nighttime, from the little bit of bending and lifting I do have to do. I think the biggest thing for me was the emotional aspect of it and how hard I'm being on myself to get better faster and be so independent. I keep reminding myself- I had surgery, I was put under, my body was cut open (yes, it was a laparoscopic surgery, but they did have to make a small incision for removal of the appendix so as not to burst it) twice in one year...I'm allowed some time to get over this. But, I do also still have to be a mommy- I don't get to sit around, I have to pick up my baby, I want to play with my son, I have to actually get some things done...thus, the emotional tug of war I play. Daniel has actually been really good this week- all of a sudden his ears work a lot better! (Meaning, he's actually listening to me and doing what he's asked to do, mostly!) But really, it's been nice to get back into our routine and play with my kids again, and get out & get some fresh air going to classes with Daniel. I know Annabel and Daniel agree- they like having Mommy back! I could have done without Annabel's cold, however, since that took us a few steps backward from a healthy house again and has added to our already maxed out exhaustion. I think by Monday, I'll feel even better- surgery/pain wise, anyway. Hopefully Annabel will feel better too, because, I will dare to say, Annabel was actually just starting to get into a good nighttime routine and sleep for longer chunks because of this whole appendix fiasco- about the only good thing to come of my appendicitis. I'd like her not to lose that nice new good sleeping routine! We shall see.
And now for some funny things we've heard lately from Daniel...
"Doink"- Daniel says this for his "oops"- as in "Doink, I got about (forgot about) to get my lion." It's pretty cute. "Doink" is a new "word" for Daniel- he's been saying it for about a couple weeks now. Not entirely sure where he got this made up word.
"I guess I..."- I love when Daniel says "I guess", something about this is so cute to me.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to..."- we hear this a lot lately. I think it's great that he's reflecting on his actions. And he gets so serious when he says this. Again, something about this is cute, too- maybe because it sounds so grown-up. I keep telling myself he's almost four, he's going to be four on his next birthday- that's CRAZY! How is that possible?! Anyway, every now and again, Daniel sounds like he's four.
Remember when everything in the past was always "last year" for Daniel? Now he says a few different things to refer to the past- it's either "a few weeks ago" or "last time" or "before." It's interesting to note the progression of his understanding of the past.
When Daniel talks about the movie Monsters Inc., he calls the one main character Mike Wazowski "Mike Zaowski"- that's pretty cute, too.
"Bescape"- this is how Daniel says "escape." Just another cute word.
"Pop into a hug"- Daniel has been saying this for a long time, but I don't think I've mentioned it on here before. He says this whenever he puts a shirt on (pajamas or a "morning" shirt)- he pushes his arms through the sleeves and then he "pops" his arms out into a hug around us! SO CUTE- I want to always remember this! And yes, he came up with this all on his own! Love it!
Oh- and apparently Ben and I know everything- because when Daniel asks us questions and we respond with "I don't know" (such as where something we can't find is) Daniel absolutely insists "You DO know!" Cracks me up! I'm just glad he has faith in us!
