Ben and the kids had their Y Guide Fall Campout this past weekend! (How's that for prompt blogging?!)
They had a great time and had amazing warm sunny weather. It was the perfect weekend for camping. (Far better than the previous weekend's 40 degree weather!) They headed up Friday night, joining one other early family there (the rest of their group all came Saturday). They had dinner at the campsite, the kids claimed their top bunk beds, and all. Saturday they did a bunch of the activities there and quite a bit of hiking (Annabel had something like 27,000 steps on her fitbit!). Pumpkins were carved, they did a leather stamping craft, some climbing on the "climbing tower" and more. The campfire made by their group that night was apparently very big and very hot, but they had fun watching it- from far back I hope! Sunday morning they did breakfast at the campsite before packing up and heading out. I think they've liked other sites from last year for camping better, but they still had a great time and are already looking forward to their winter trip.
Before they headed home though, they stopped at the Volo Auto Museum since they were right there. We took the kids here when they were little (back in September 2015)- Daniel remembered it a little bit, but Annabel not at all, so I told Ben he should take them there again while they were literally across the street. They had fun wandering around here for a bit and then they headed homeward bound, stopping at Woodfield Mall for some lunch (plans changed here because the lunch place they wanted was gone) and then they wandered through a couple shops they like there (one of these was also gone; not a very successful stop at the mall after all!). Then they came home to me! It was so fun to see all their pictures and hear their stories!
What did I do all weekend? Well. I watched 11 hours of TV (not in one sitting though; I was binge watching season 3 of the TV show, This Is Us). I read an entire book- in one sitting. Yep. My two major achievements of the weekend! I stayed up till 3:30 AM, too! So unlike me, all this, so far. On the more normal spectrum of my typical self, I also ran to Target Friday night, went to a book sale Saturday morning, then ran more errands and got myself some lunch (soaking up that sunshine!), and I attempted a bike ride (I had this BIG loop planned) because the weather was just SO gorgeous, but my back bike tire was flat so that didn't work out so well and I had to quit that endeavor, otherwise that would also have been quite an achievement (I'm serious, I had many miles planned). Alas. Hmm, what else- I did a little puttering, oh I counted Legos for a school event, made part of Annabel's Halloween costume, aaaannnd, well that's pretty much it. I enjoyed every minute. And then I was super glad and super ready to see my kids again! Annabel fell asleep literally in my arms that night as we snuggled in bed- the sweetest. Oh I love my family so!

Life
Life lately...
For a split second, at the end of August, Daniel decided he wanted all his Legos up in his bedroom (we've recently done some rearranging upstairs, thus giving Daniel space for bigger Lego table in his room), so he cleared off the Lego shelf in the bay window of our family room. I have to say I mourned this all day that day- I had no idea it would affect me so. He just sort of suddenly said this would happen, I had no time for before pictures. I had no time to process this. He is just growing up too fast! I have always said I never once minded that the Legos had overrun my family room- I liked the fact that Daniel spent all his time there with us, I liked the Legos there, I wanted them there because that meant Daniel was there, all I ever wanted. I was in tears, really. Ben, so wise, said give it a day, he'll be back...and of course Ben was right, by the next day, Daniel had brought everything back down! My heart was happy again.
Dinner out a Five Guys, shelling peanuts and slurping milkshakes.
Cosmo, Cosmo, Cosmo...obsessed with Annabel's backpack! No idea why.
Cutie pie Ziggy.
After bath snuggle with Cosmo. The best.
Cute new super cozy fall jammies!
That laugh- the best!
Baby candy corn! Always fun to spy the different ones.
Cosmo, I mean Meowthra, is in the middle of the Lego movie set (Meowthra is the live action cat in the middle of the computer animated Lego Ninjago movie). Leave it to Cosmo to find the one place we don't want him.
Welcome to the future of schools...bulletin boards have "tweets" on them. (Outside Daniel's room during conferences.) I had to laugh. Though I actually liked many of the quotes- so true of course.
Game night. Our cat-themed Pictionary game. Super fun. Love watching my kiddos draw and laugh and have fun.
Our school had a "Day of Awesome" yesterday, which was basically a field day filled with many inflatables in the school gym. I was lucky to be a part of it during Annabel's session (they were paired up by grades, so I was with grades 2 and 3 for their hour long turn in there), manning one of the inflatable stations so that only a couple kids went in at a time. It was loud and noisy, but a lot of fun. The kids just went to whatever inflatable they wanted, they didn't have to stay with their classes, so it was a busy, chaotic hour, but I loved spotting Annabel now and then, having a ball with her friend Aggie! This first picture is the "wrecking ball" inflatable- you had to push that "wrecking ball" at each other and try to knock others off their platform. It didn't work that well, I'm told, but they had fun trying it. The other picture is Annabel on the slide at the end of my inflatable obstacle course, which she'd timed herself doing on her watch. I'm so glad I got to help out with a fun day!
And HEY- that's me caught up 100% on blogging!!
(If only I could be that caught up with my large photo project...all in good time...)
