After we said goodbye to Anna Maria Island that Saturday, June 15th, we headed up to Alabama to visit Brad and Rose. We ended up making rather spontaneous plans to stay on base at their house, thereby extending the time we had with them. Best decision ever, as the kids (mostly Annabel) did not remember Brad and Rose much at all, since we hardly ever see them. Brad cooked us one of our fave dinners and the kids were offered yummy ice cream treats for dessert and we made ourselves right at home, thoroughly enjoying our visit! It was so nice to catch up with them and not be rushed and out at a noisy dinner place. So, thank you, Brad and Rose, for opening your house up to us! We really enjoyed our visit!
The kids got their kitty fix with Rose's adorable cats, though we only ever really saw the one, Jean Claude. He was a friendly guy and so soft and fluffy. He's even trained to do tricks! The kids got to help with those, too. So fun!
The next morning, though we had a 12-ish hour drive ahead of us, we were not in a hurry to leave. We wanted to enjoy more of our time with Brad and Rose and they took us around base a little to see the planes displayed there. That was a lot of fun, though it was very hot. (We weren't all wet to keep cool, like we were at the beach!) The planes were very cool and the kids helped take pictures, which was fun, too. After that, we hit the road home! We were ready for our own space and we had a big day ahead of us. I believe we arrived at 12:07 AM, which tickled Annabel, my night owl.
All in all, from day one to home, such a good trip!! And we're just so glad we stopped in Alabama on the way home. Seeing family is always such special time.
Training the cat!
Cozy sleepy kids at Brad and Rose's house! We had to wake them, for a change.
Checking out the cool planes!
We drove home on Father's Day and Annabel made this note and left it on the steering wheel for Daddy. So sweet!
