We celebrated Daniel's 13th birthday on a few different occasions! I still can't believe he's thirteen!!
Here's one round of some fun:
The first occasion was with Grandma Mary Kay, Grandpa Larry, and Aunt Wendy since she was in town for his birthday! It was her first time home since COVID started, so it had been a long time since we'd seen her. We're so glad she could celebrate with us. We had them over for dinner and dessert (Daniel had really been craving pumpkin bars, so that's what we made!) and of course presents! Such a fun night at our house!
Daniel wanted a new yellow mask for a new smiley face. Grandma wrapped that up for him and I'll draw the smile on like last time. :)
Daniel gleefully ripping wrapping paper, laughing all the while, teasing Daddy who tirelessly jokes about not ripping paper so we can save it (we don't of course, but it's a Daddy joke thing).
Grandma kept joking about getting Daniel socks...and well, she did! She found the funkiest pair and he laughed and laughed. And you know what, he wears them, too!
The kitties had fun, too!
Daniel loves getting the comics from Grandma and Grandpa every Sunday night when we visit. They made sure to bring this week's copy and he immediately started reading.
Next round of birthday fun:
Daniel wanted to celebrate with his friend Manny by going to Go Ape. We took Annabel and her friend Zeynep, too. A fun outing for all! And it was a perfect day- we had no school, so we could go in the middle of the day when it was quieter, and the threatened rain never came, so it worked out all around. Though I don't think Manny loves heights...still, he was a good sport. We ended with an ice cream treat at Andy's, too! Yum!
Last round of birthday celebrations:
And finally, we celebrated with my side of the family on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon! Josie was so excited to come over to our house as always and she had fun making things for Daniel for his birthday, watching him open presents, and sharing her general delight. She and Daniel played hard that day, too. Daniel is just so wonderful with her, it's really amazing. They are just thick as thieves. We all love it! Luna and Annabel used their time to pore over recipes- a great, yummy thing to connect over. They plan to get together sometime to do some baking, which will be so fun for them.
Daniel's dessert request this time was Grandma Cheryl's trifle cake- he loves this stuff and it always disappears fast! We all had such a great time at this party, catching up, chatting, watching the kids play, watching baby Hannah, and so on. I'm glad it worked out that we could have a party for Daniel and still keep all safe and comfortable around each other. Daniel loved all his presents, too, and even Josie had fun with his new Playmobil van (she was SO excited to see that, haha!). New to Daniel's world- AC/DC music- he's really into them lately, so it was a fun surprise for him to get their CDs. And of course he loved the Legos, books, and the gift card to Bricks & Minifigs (he asks daily when we'll go!). Fun times!
Josie made Daniel this mask- he sweetly praised it and modeled it, too!
AC/DC CDs!!
The new Playmobil camper van- it's so cool!
This got a good laugh- the card reads, "Okay, you can go back to gaming now!"
Trifle time!!
