3rd Birthday Celebration- Part Two

And the birthday celebrating continues! Birthday Celebration Part Two began as soon as nap time was over. We started with a dinner made up of some of Daniel's favorite foods- pasties and sweet potatoes to name a few...however little boys who know that cake and presents are coming up next don't eat so much for dinner! Daniel was waaay too distracted to eat much, even if it was his favorite food, but he invited himself to sit in my lap (which I didn't mind one bit- he doesn't do that much anymore)- and eat off my plate, all while saying "It's good to share Mommy's food. It's nice to share. We are both eating Mommy's food." Well, you can't argue there...it is polite to share. :) Dinner was followed by singing "Happy Birthday," blowing out THREE (can it really be that many?!) candles, and eating some apple cake (made from a mix- it was just okay) and then of course presents!

Daniel was so much fun opening presents. We had a ball just watching Tornado Daniel. No really, he was so good, as good as can be expected of a very excited three year old- he asked for help, he threw every last bit of garbage each and every time he ripped paper off (the garbage can literally followed him all over the room as he moved around opening this present and that), he stacked up his presents as he opened them, he gave Annabel her own toys when she grabbed his presents, he showed her his new toys, and so on. Daniel loved getting new surprises, as he called them. And of course he wanted to play with each and every one of them immediately!

Annabel just took it all in- she watched everything Daniel did. She loved trying to reach for the presents, the wrapping paper, the new toys. It was so perfect that she learned to sit up this week because she could really enjoy Daniel's show of opening presents. At one point, Daniel took some tissue paper out of a gift bag and he was so excited about what was in it (a stuffed Clifford), that he didn't pick up the tissue paper right away...well, Annabel got a hold of that and right to her mouth it went! It was pretty funny- and boy did she have a tight grasp on it; I had to really pry it out of her hands! Annabel was actually very tired during all of this, but she was such a good sport and so patient while Daniel opened all of his presents. I put her to bed as soon as Daniel was done, and then joined Daniel and Daddy while they opened and played with the new toys.

So Daniel's third birthday was tons of fun! We can hardly believe he's three! We had everybody over on Sunday for the big family party and that was a lot of fun, too. More on that later! And Daniel's 3 year well visit is later this week, too- so I'll post an update on that later, too, plus more cute stories!

Enjoy our pictures!

Annabel waits for Daniel to wake up so the fun can begin!

This picture is so sweet to me...it makes me wonder what Annabel is thinking, I love how she's concentrating, I love the chubby cheek profile, the way her hands are checking out the toy.

Daniel sits in Mommy's lap for dinner.
At least this got him to eat a little bit more!

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear Daniel
Happy Birthday to you!

Daniel blows out the candles on his cake! Love the puffed cheeks!
And yes, there's three candles there...I learned the hard way to put them in a row next time!

Daniel takes a bite of cake!

Annabel watches Daniel open a card.

This is a great example of how excited Daniel was to open presents!
And I love Annabel's hands on the present...she sure thinks everything is for her!

Ripping off the wrapping paper!

Head in the bucket, stuffing garbage in!

You can just make out Daniel's excitement over Donald Duck's fire truck!

What a great big hug for Clifford! He loves his new Clifford!

Annabel sure snatched that tissue paper quick as she could!

Daniel piled up his presents.

I love Annabel's expression here!

Unwrapping presents is serious business!

Time to play with new toys!

Daniel flies his new Mickey Mouse Clubhouse airplane! This was one of the things Daniel announced one day that was on his wish list.

Putting out the fire at the garage!
