Annabel's 1st Movie Theater Experience!

On Christmas Eve Day (you know, the day where the kids are just super excited super bouncy and it's just so hard to wait for present time and Santa and all- yes, that day) we decided we'd keep the kids busy and make waiting a little less painful for all of us by going out as a family to see a movie! I'd been wanting to see the movie Frozen and we thought it was worth a shot taking Annabel to see her first movie in a theater. We just loved the idea of going to a movie on Christmas Eve, killing a little time this way, enjoying something together as a family. I'd certainly do that again...if there's a kids movie I'd take my kids to see. So anyway, the kids were very excited to go the movie theater! Annabel's very first movie theater experience!

Annabel did great, really, all things considered. The kids knew we were going to Grandma Mary Kay's house straight after the movie, so that was a big thing on their minds. Annabel wanted to go to Grandma's about ten minutes before the movie started, and was ready again after the cutest little Mickey/Minnie short (which she just LOVED!)- I had to explain that that wasn't the movie, that was just a short movie, we'd go after the next big movie. The kids enjoyed the previews- Annabel was so excited to see the Lego Movie preview and tell Daniel about that- even though he was right there watching it, too- "LEGO, Daniel!" Yes, the no talking thing was a tad hard for her to understand, chatterbox that she is, but again, she did really well considering. The movie was good- we all enjoyed it. Annabel mentioned every now and again that she was ready to go to Grandma's but she was very patient and we were glad for that. She sat on a booster seat in her own seat for a while (booster mostly because she weighs so little that the seat wouldn't stay down for her otherwise!) and then ended up in Daddy's lap for most of the movie and she really did watch most of the movie- I rarely saw her attention wander, really- I was impressed with how well she did, given that her attention span really isn't very long to begin with and it was Christmas Eve! Of course the popcorn was a huge hit and kept the kids occupied for the longest time! Annabel also loved holding onto her ticket and held onto that once she was done with her popcorn for the rest of the movie- it was so cute. We all really enjoyed the movie! Daniel asked as soon as we got into the car on our way to Grandma's if we had that movie on DVD at home- guess that means he'd like to see it again! Maybe the DVD will be out in time for Annabel's birthday...
