Daniel's preschool held an Open House for Moms & Kids back in mid-October. Daniel was very excited to take me to school at nighttime and show me around the classroom. It was just a free play for the kids to show their moms what kinds of things they do at preschool. Daniel and I mostly did table activities and then we did some block and counting activities on the floor. It was really neat to see Daniel interact with all the different activities. I noticed a ton of improvement from last year- lots more creativity, lots more planning and thinking before doing, the ease with which he matched blocks by size (I remember how he'd do the cylinder size matching at random last year and this year it was clear he was actually paying attention and estimating correctly), and the ease with which he correctly grabbed and estimated handfuls of objects to match them up to numbers...it was a fun night for us! The kids sang and danced to a few songs at the end of the hour and then we were off- time flew by! Daddy gets to go to his Open House for Dads in March- Daniel reminds me of this quite often, he really can't wait to take Daddy!
Daniel plays with a lock box- so many locks to figure out!
Stacking tiles by color.
Daniel made a "snow plow" out of these link-together tiles- so cool!
Carrying and pouring water.
Looking around the room through different colors!
Matching the plain wooden cylinders up to the red wooden cylinders- I was impressed with how well he did this with quick glances each time!
And of course the inevitable tower gets built!
